IT’S SOOOO HOT! LUCKILY WE’VE GOT COLD LEMONADE FOR YOU ON JULY 20TH!

Created:

Introducing…….our July lineup of writers. Coming to the Playhouse on July 20th.

You may notice that this announcement looks a bit different than our previous ones.  It’s more….yellow.  Well, we’re trying something different this round!
Introducing the four writers of the July 2024 Cold Lemonade Reading Series.  And we have a special treat for you – Morgana will be presenting a piece of her own!
So without further ado, let’s meet our writers!
LYNNE GANNON is a retired high school English/Theater Arts teacher. She has produced, directed, and stage managed plays of all types, with youth, teen, and adult theater groups. Stopping Here, an original stage adaptation of Robert Frost narrative poems, is her first published play.
LIZZY BOOTH is an actor, playwright, director, and Shakespeare lover based in New York and Connecticut. She recently graduated from the Professional Conservatory at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. More information about Lizzy can be found on her website: lizzybooth.org!
MARK LAMBECK is a playwright member of Manhattan’s Emerging Artists Theatre Co (EAT). An occasional actor, he has appeared at Eastbound Theater and Westport Community Theater, among others. His short plays have been published by Smith & Kraus, Bedford/St. Martin’s Press, United Stages and Applause Publishing.
MORGANA KATE WATSON is a professional writer and performer. Her most recent short play, Scary Orange Bottle, was produced by Outside Entertainment on the Upper West Side in May. She is a frequent contributor to Naked Angels NYC, as both an actor and a writer. www.morganakatewatson.com

So, what’s The Cold Lemonade Reading Series all about?

Every month the works of local writers, selected in advance by host Morgana Kate Watson, are presented on the Sherman Playhouse stage as  10-minute extracts, read by a team of actors, followed by an opportunity for discussion of the pieces with the authors.

Authors – If you have a piece you’d like to have included in upcoming Cold Lemonade sessions, just contact Morgana at lemonade@shermanplayers.org.  Also look out for our website and social media posts with info about submission deadlines.

Actors – if you want to flex your thespian muscles just turn up at 7pm on the night.  Morgana will have scripts and will cast the lineup for each reading from who is present – just make sure she knows you are there.  Simple as that!  And while casting can’t be guaranteed for this session (roles aren’t unlimited, after all), don’t worry there will be more sessions for you to strut your stuff. In the meantime, sit back, relax, and enjoy a great night of theater!

The readings will commence at 8 pm.

If you’d just like to come along to enjoy the readings and support your local writers and actors, we’d love to see you there.

What does it cost?

There’s no fixed amount for attending, though we encourage you to make a small donation at the door to help cover costs.  We’ll have our usual range of concessions available too.
